Fuse

Supernovas (Hercules) Fuse walk-through, completed in 1:45.6

This is a different strategy than previous posts on Fuse. for this strategy, I just require that the first move for each opponent is towards the bottom of the screen, then I try to capture as many top planets as possible while also getting both of the planets protecting the supernova on one of the sides.

Walk-through

  1. From 0:00 to 0:05, capture one of the top planets. Then use faux moves to adjacent planets to get your opponents to give up on those planets and capture down instead. If your opponents initial move is anything other than capturing a planet below their initial planet, start over.
  2. From 0:06 to 0:19, capture the other top planet.
  3. From 0:20 to 0:29, because of the way the opponents are arranged I decide to capture the remaining planets on the orange side. Start this by capturing the remaining single planet on that side.
  4. From 0:30 to 0:43, capture the bottom double planet. Go for this one first because it is the one that orange is most likely to capture.
  5. From 0:44 to 0:48, capture the top double planet.
  6. From 0:49 to 0:54, at this point it’s best to leave your units alone, if you move any of your units you may cause an opponent to attack you. Best to wait and let them attack each other. When orange recaptures its planet, move units from your back planets up closer to orange where they will be more useful
  7. From 0:55 to 1:07, when orange moves units off of its top double planet, you want to destroy and capture that planet. Wait again for your opponents to attack each other. When orange attacks green, use units from your back 3 planets to attack and destroy the orange double planet. At the same time start attacking the green planets.
  8. From 1:08 to 1:14, as you’re attacking and destroying the top two green planets, destroy the closest orange planet.

Now you just need to destroy the remaining planets as quickly as possible. I didn’t do a very good job of destroying the green planets in a timely manner. With a better job on the green planets this would have been a better time.

Fuse

Supernovas (Hercules) Fuse walk-through, completed in 1:54.0

I started out following the same strategy for Fuse that was used in a previous post. The change in this video is I adapted the strategy to the first moves of the opponents. Previously I would always capture the planets on the left side of the screen. Now, the side I capture first is determined by purple. I capture the side opposite of purple’s first move. Even with that, the time accomplished in this video is due to the opponents attacking each other in situations where they would usually attack me. It’s all about setting things up so you can take advantage of the luck that comes your way.

Walk through

  1. From 0:00 to 0:19, send your units to capture the single planet above you on the orange side. Before that planet is captured, start sending new units from your initial planet to the planet just above and adjacent to orange. After capturing your second planet, send all of your new units to capture the planet above and adjacent to orange.
  2. From 0:20 to 0:32, capture the planet above and adjacent to green.
  3. From 0:33 to 0:41, capture the top right double planet.
  4. From 0:42 to 0:56, capture the bottom right double planet. At 0:45 green starts attacking the single planet I bypassed. I really want that planet and almost stopped this game because of that. I’m glad I decided to continue and instead started sending some units to prevent green from capturing the planet.
  5. From 0:57 to 0:59, finish capturing the top planet.
  6. From 1:00 to 1:08, capture the top left double planet. I never expected this planet to remain available for me. This is the first time I remember that ever happening.
  7. From 1:09 to 1:14, since green is just now weakening its double planet, destroy and capture it.
  8. From 1:15 to 1:22, destroy the right most green planet.
  9. From 1:23 to 1:33, simultaneously destroy the green and orange double planets.
  10. From 1:34 to 1:31, purple cooperates by attacking orange, so I redirect my units around that planet in order to destroy the purple double planet.

From here there are just two planet left to destroy. Attack both of them simultaneously to prevent them from capturing another planet.

Fuse

Supernovas (Hercules) Fuse walk-through, completed in 2:00.02

My strategy for Fuse is fairly simple. Deny your opponents the initial capture that does you the most harm. Then capture the planets that places an opponent between you and another opponent. This will make it more likely that your opponents will expend their units attacking each other instead of attacking you.

In this video my initial moves are on the orange side, this strategy works just as well if you flip the script and make your initial attacks on the green side.

Walk-through

  1. From 0:00 to 0:04, send your units to capture the single planet above you on the orange side. Before that planet is captured, start sending new units from your initial planet to the planet just above and adjacent to orange.
  2. From 0:05 to 0:07, when orange gives up and sends it units elsewhere, start using all of your units to attack the single planet above green. You don’t want this planet, but you do not want to green to have it now. The sooner green captures that planet, the sooner green will start attacking your planets.
  3. From 0:08 to 0:19, when green gives up on the top planet, redirect your units to capturing the single planet adjacent to orange.
  4. From 0:20 to 0:33, capture the bottom left double planet. You are capturing this double first because it is the one orange is most likely to capture.
  5. From 0:34 to 0:47, capture and promote the top double planet.
  6. From 0:48 to 0:57, just as orange sends units from its leftmost planet, you want to destroy and capture that planet.
  7. From 0:58 to 1:06, when orange moves units off of its top double planet, you want to destroy and capture that planet.
  8. From 1:07 to 1:20, as you bide your time, build up your units on the single planet adjacent to orange. As soon as orange makes a move to attack one of your opponents, destroy and capture the orange double planet.
  9. From 1:21 to 1:25, destroy and capture the remaining orange planet.

Now it just you against green. You want to destroy green in the fastest way possible. While doing so you need to pay attention to the green supernova. If its supernova isn’t near exploding, let green waste units on the supernova. If it is near going off, you need to capture the green planets closest to the supernova first.
